MINI is set to broaden its electric 3-Door range in 2026 with the Paul Smith Edition, a design-led special model due to arrive in the first half of the year. The car is the latest result of the brand’s long-running collaboration with Sir Paul Smith, bringing his “classic with a twist” approach to the fully electric MINI 3-Door for the first time.
A design project rather than a token limited run
MINI describes the Paul Smith Edition not as a superficial run-out edition, but as a more complete design programme that blends MINI’s styling cues with the designer’s instantly recognisable aesthetic. While the two have worked together before, this marks the first time the partnership’s signature philosophy has been applied to MINI’s all-electric three-door model.
Exclusive paint choices nod to MINI heritage
The Paul Smith Edition stands out through a bespoke colour range. Key finishes include:
- Statement Grey with a bluish undertone, inspired by the 1959 Austin Seven
- Inspired White, a contemporary take on the beige shade associated with the original Mini
- Midnight Black Metallic, also offered within the palette
Nottingham Green accents and a signature roof stripe
A distinctive Nottingham Green-a reference to Paul Smith’s home city-features on the grille, mirror caps and roof. The roof also carries the designer’s Signature Stripe.
Buyers can alternatively opt for a Jet Black roof treatment, combining matt and gloss black striping. The look is finished with 18-inch Night Spoke wheels, carrying Paul Smith branding.
Cabin tweaks focus on texture, colour and hidden details
Inside, MINI continues the personalisation theme with materials and trim intended to emphasise the car’s collectible feel. Highlights include:
- Knitted black surfaces across the dashboard and door panels
- Sport seats in Nightshade Blue with signature striped inserts
- Coloured stitching on the steering wheel
- Exclusive graphics for the central circular display, available in a personalised mode
- Additional discreet touches, including a welcome light projection and designer script elements
Italian line-up, performance and pricing
In Italy, the MINI Paul Smith Edition will be sold only as the electric Cooper E and Cooper SE.
- Cooper E: 184 hp, range up to 300 km, priced from €36,250
- Cooper SE: 218 hp, range up to 400 km, priced from €40,250
Both versions cost €6,750 more than the equivalent standard models in the Italian market.
Positioning an EV as a design-led purchase
The Paul Smith Edition underlines MINI’s push to make its electric models as much about character and desirability as technology. The premium is significant, but MINI is clearly targeting buyers who place a high value on styling, individuality and the emotional appeal of a special-edition car.
