ADAC, Germany’s largest motoring association, has refreshed its Ecotest results and published a new ranking of electric cars delivering the longest real-world driving range. Unlike laboratory WLTP figures quoted by manufacturers, every model in the list was assessed using the same test approach designed to reflect mixed, everyday driving.
Below are the seven EVs with the greatest real-world range, according to ADAC’s latest Ecotest database update.
1) Mercedes CLA Coupé 250+ EQ Progressive - 740 km
Topping the table, the Mercedes CLA Coupé 250+ EQ Progressive recorded a standout 740 km on ADAC’s real-world-style cycle, despite using a comparatively compact battery. ADAC said a full charge required around 100 kWh once charging losses were included - a figure that exceeds the stated capacity.
2) Mercedes EQS 450+ AMG Line - 660 km
In second place, the Mercedes EQS 450+ AMG Line managed 660 km. ADAC notes the flagship saloon is fitted with a 118 kWh battery and is engineered with long-distance efficiency in mind, particularly at motorway speeds.
3) BMW iX xDrive50 - 610 km
The BMW iX xDrive50 took third with a measured 610 km. ADAC attributed the large SUV’s strong showing to its aerodynamics and optimised energy consumption.
4) Lucid Air Grand Touring AWD - 610 km
Also reaching 610 km, the Lucid Air Grand Touring AWD matched the BMW’s result. The American electric saloon uses a 112 kWh battery and, in ADAC’s testing, delivered a consistent range under realistic conditions.
5) Audi A6 e-tron performance - 580 km
The Audi A6 e-tron performance placed fifth with 580 km. ADAC said the electric estate, equipped with a 94.4 kWh battery, produced a well-balanced overall outcome.
6) Porsche Taycan 4S Performance Battery Plus - 570 km
Next came the Porsche Taycan 4S Performance Battery Plus, returning 570 km. ADAC indicated the sportier EV can still cover substantial distances when driven in a calmer, more efficient manner.
7) Audi Q6 e-tron performance - 565 km
Rounding out the list, the Audi Q6 e-tron performance achieved 565 km, finishing less than 200 km behind the top-ranked Mercedes.
German brands dominate on real-world efficiency, ADAC says
ADAC said the results show German manufacturers are currently setting the pace among the most economical EVs when the focus is on real-world range rather than brochure figures.
